Spam Email

Whilst we use spam filtering software as a way of combating the outrageous and usually disgusting deluge of spam hitting ours and our clients email accounts, we have decided that software spam firewalls are just not able to cope with the constantly changing spam attacks which are taking place constantly and with ever increasing vehemence.

As the solution, and as a result of many requests by our customers, we are installing an expensive hardware spam and virus system to filter spam to our email accounts. Whilst we will continue to offer the free software spam filtering to all our customers, we will be offering this new hardware spam filtering as an optional add-on service. This machine will also filter viruses but you should note that like Norton and McAfee antivirus filters, there will always be some that get through so always keep your antivirus program definitions up to date. The good news if that our new machine will be update each and every hour of the day with new spam filter rules and virus definitions as and when they are discovered.

The cost of the service is £22.50. + vat per email account per annum. For those of you using catchall or email redirection or if you are using an Exchange Server and having your mail redirected through to the exchange server then you will need to call us and let us know how many users you have receiving email and we will set up the service accordingly and bill you for those number of users.

You will shortly be able to buy this service from your domain management control panel in www.registermydomain.com. Unfortunately, we can only offer this service either as an all or nothing service due to the way it is configured in the equipment that we have purchased. By this we mean, that if you want to use the service and you have 3 email accounts, then you will need to buy it for all three accounts. We unfortunately have no other option. From feedback we have received from many of our customers though, they are more than happy to pay for this optional additional service if it means that the time they will spend dealing with this spam mail is substantially reduced.

We are confident that that this new hardware filter will dramatically reduce the amount of spam you receive and thus will save you an enormous amount of time and consequently, money, removing it. In the left hand column on the home page is a link which says Anti Spam. You should note that there will always be some spam that gets through but these emails can be classed as spam from your outlook program if you download the plug-in available (Get Plug-in). This will install two little envelope buttons on your toolbar one Red and one Green. If a spam does get through, you merely highlight it and click the Red envelope and it gets deleted and marked as spam in the future, if you click the Green Envelope it will be marked as not a spam sender in the future.

We are trialling the equipment at the moment and we hope to be able to offer the service by the end of next week. We have for the last week been running our own email through it and our spam deluge has reduced by about 85-95%. Out of 6000 emails received for our own email accounts/domains by our new hardware 4500 Spam mails have been blocked in three days! Also 100 Virus emails have been intercepted and blocked. For anyone of our clients who want to purchase this service for their email accounts, we have to manually configure the equipment to “wash” their mail and we also need to repoint your email MX record to this equipment. You should not experience any loss of service during this repointing.

Please note that it may take up to 24 hours for the mx record changes to reflect in all DNS servers which may mean that until this happens you will continue to get spam mail but once the dns changes are reflected your mail will seamlessly switch to the new service.

We will be sending out one more email to you to advise you when the service is available. And remember, you have 7 days from the time of purchase during which time you can decide to cancel or continue using this service so there is really no risk involved. The upside is you will hopefully not have to wade through the mountains of junk mail to get your legitimate email.
